  1. In the present study we were interested in the count of health conditions. However, conditions that are typically weighted as having a higher impact on health and the cost of care are hemiplegia, moderate or severe chronic kidney disease, diabetes with end of organ damage, any cancer, skin ulcers/cellulitis, moderate or severe live disease, metastatic cancer, and AIDS or HIV. In the weighted CCI total score all these conditions receive a weight of two except for moderate or severe liver disease which receives a weight of three, and metastatic cancer and AIDS or HIV which receive a weight of six. The remaining conditions, and taking warfarin, receive a weight of one [53]
