≥ 60 Stage 1 and 2 Kidney damage with normal or mildly decreased GFR
45–59 Stage 3a Moderately decreased GFR
30–44 Stage 3b Moderately decreased GFR
< 30 Stage 4 and 5 Severely decreased GFR or kidney failure

  3. CKD stage 3 has been sub-divided into 30–44 (stage 3b) and 45–59 ml/min/1.73m2 (stage 3a) as there is evidence of graded increase in mortality risk [9, 14].
