Proportions of patients with increased body fat mass and patients with muscle wasting in body mass index-based obesity classifications. Body mass index (BMI)-based definition of obesity established by the World Health Organization is as follows: Underweight: BMI < 18.5, Normal weight: 18.5BMI < 25, Overweight: 25BMI < 30, Obese: 30BMI. Increased percent body fat mass (increased FM) was defined as dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry-measured percent body fat mass > 25% in males and > 30% in females. Muscle wasting was defined by the cut-off values of appendicular skeletal muscle mass index: < 7.00 kg/m2 in males and < 5.40 kg/m2 in females
